I tell you - Osama is NOT dead and Arnold has not committed suicide. No, I haven't lost my marbles - I'm simply reacting to two of the latest hoax e-mails being generated on the Internet. IF you receive a message that supposedly provides a link to pictures of Osama bin Laden's dead body - or to Arnold's suicide note - don't go there. Attached to the link is an attempt to contaminate your computer with a virus.

Tired of being bugged?
There are a lot of Web sites available that offer free information - good information, yet if you want to access the site, you must provide your personal information such as your full name and e-mail address, then you've got to set-up a username and password.
That really bugs me.
Well, the folks behind the "Bug Me Not" Web site feel the same way,
click here to access the site and to see what it is all about. In a nutshell, you type in the URL of the site that wants your personal info - if pre-established account information is available for that site, you will be presented with it - free of charge. Just use that information to access the information, for example the New York Times online version is available. This is not stealing folks - the information is free anyway. Using the "Bug Me Not" service is just another way to help cut down on the flood of Spam and to help maintain privacy.

And they predicted that it would fail...
When Apple launched their "iTunes" music service, most Internet "experts" predicted that the service would fail. The prediction was based on the fact that so many people were so used to downloading music for free (although illegal), that they would never be willing to pay for it. Well, a few days ago - the 100 millionith paid for song was downloaded from iTunes.

Totally "Wired" :
As far back as 1996, I predicted to friends and family that someday - the Internet would be accessible everywhere. That folks wouldn't be required to dial in or to be connected by wires at all. I predicted that we could one day sit on a park bench and surf the Internet. My prediction was usually met with something like "Yeah, that might happen - in maybe 20 years from now!". Now, just 8 years later - we are very, very close to my prediction. Wi-Fi hotspots are popping up everywhere, wireless home networks are becoming more and more popular.
