  Amplify your efforts:

How many times have you scoured the Internet for information, compiled a list of links, maybe copied and pasted some text together in Notepad - only to evenutally lose track of all of that information? Have you at times wished you could share your collected data with friends and family - easily?

Things have just gotten much easier - sign up for a free account at www.amplify.com and start using their service. It's as easy as "drag and drop" - you basically pull information (text, pictures, video, etc.) off of visited Web sites and put it all together on a Web page of your own. The compiled information is kept organized together - laid out on the page just the way you want it. The Web pages are broken up into frames - each frame containing the culled information. When anyone clicks on a particular frame - the original Web address from whence the data was pulled from is listed as an active link.

Not only can you keep and store each page that you create, you can send its unique Web address to anyone else who has Internet access - and they will be able to access that page also. I can easily see how this type of information sharing can follow right on the heals of Blogs and their popularity - only time will tell.

  Christmas in June:

If you've utilized Yahoo's free e-mail service, you know that there is normally a 4 megabyte limit on storage. It doesn't take very long to fill that allocation up with "stuff". Well, as of today - all free Yahoo e-mail accounts now have 100 megabytes of free storage space. Now - that is more like it! I imagine that the reason behind this new offering is that Google is just about to launch their new free e-mail service - a service that is going to offer 100 megabytes of free storage, or - it could just be pure coincidence....... Naw

  Say goodbye to video stores?

As more and more folks migrate to broadband Internet access, the demand for high quality content increases. The lastest trend is to be able to legally download and watch full-length movies. A new partnership has been formed between Real Networks Inc. and Starz Encore Group LLC. For a monthly fee of $12.95, subscribers can download and watch an unlimited number of movies. According to the Washington Post, the inventory of movies is constantly growing so there should be no fear of running out of features to watch. You can check out this newest service by going to www.starz.com - you just may find yourself visiting the local video store a whole lot less.

  A brilliant idea...

Click here to read a breaking news story about the offering of free wireless Internet access in Texas. It would be great if all of the states would adopt the same stance as the Lone Star state.

  Online Virus Scanner:

I've found another good online virus scanner (never a complete replacement for "real" anti-virus software). Pay a visit to housecall.trendmicro.com and let scanner check out your computer. I've used this free service a number of times and it works great.

An Opera with a new tune:

The Opera I am writing about is a Web browser. The browser is a good alternative to Internet Explorer - the primary difference being that it must be purchased ($39). It is a very good browser; I believe it downloads Web pages much quicker than Microsoft's product. Some folks dislike Bill Gate's company so much, that they don't mind spending money to use different software. There is a free version of the product, with it you just have to tolerate some banner ads across the top - it's worth checking out though.

e-Week has just posted an interview with the CEO of Opera Software, he shares some interesting future plans that his company has for future generations of their Web browser. Click here to read the Interview.

The information that I post in this Blog supplements my newspaper column and eZine. You can visit the "Tracker Tom's Internet Safari" Web site @ www.trackertom.com/ - stop on in for a spell.
