Web Search Basics:
I just came across an article written about searching for information on the Web (using search engines) -
click here and get smarter! The article is well written and doesn't use fancy terminology - very easy to understand.
Windows Update:
I can't stress enough, how important it is to run Windows Update - frequently.

Web Cam Watch:
Researchers at Carnegie-Mellon Univ. are compiling a massive directory of Web cameras that can be found on the Internet, their project deals with privacy invasion.
Click here to learn more and to access the directory.
Search Engine competition:
I wrote about Microsoft's latest endeavor just a few days ago, now it's been announced that
Amazon.com is going to begin work on it's own variation of a search engine.
Click here for the breaking story at
Yahoo.
Nice discovery:
I came across a Blog the other day, it's entitled the
North Carolina Experiment and it is very impressive. I cannot tell you exactly what I like about it - but something about it attracts me and keeps me interested in it.
Check it out!
Search Engine Watch:
Microsoft has now set it's sites on outdoing Google - will they be able to do that?
Speaking of search engines, there was a time that Yahoo utilized Google's search services, that is not the case any longer. Yahoo now uses it own search engine technology, and - I'll have to say I'm a little impressed (wasn't expecting to be!). If you haven't done so in awhile - jump over to
Yahoo, and try searching with their new search engine.
National "Do Not Call" list:
If you haven't heard - a fly has gotten into the ointment!
Click here to read all about it.
The national telemarketers must have paid some pretty hefty bribes for this one.
Spyblast software:
If you notice a new icon on your taskbar and it's entitled "Spyblast" - get rid of it! It somehow installs itself (seems to target Windows XP the most). Close the program by bringing up "Task Manager". Then go to "Control Panel" and "Add/Remove Programs" - uninstall the Spyblast program.
You will need to run "
Adaware" or another spyware sniffing program to make sure you've not got additional spyware files on your computer.
Microsoft Clones:
A few days ago, I received a number of emails
purportedly sent by Microsoft. These emails stated
that Microsoft had just released a new patch that
would fix their latest security flaws and that the
file was attached to the email. All I had to do
was download and install the patch – quick and
easy, and I’d be all fixed up. Fixed up alright –
I would have either installed a virus onto my
computer or a file that would allow a virus to be
installed on it at a later date.
How did I know that there was danger up ahead? I
had read in the past that Microsoft never sends
out an email with a security update file attached
to it. To make sure that I hadn’t misinterpreted
something that I had read six months ago – I
jumped over to
www.microsoft.com
and, sure enough - that’s what they say. No files
– ever. In fact, there was an alert on the Web
site about bogus emails being sent out that looked
like official Microsoft generated correspondence.
Watch what you download and install - be on your guard!
Broadband:
Click here to read a good article on CNN's Web site about broadband access. We pious Americans probably assumed we had a corner on the market with high speed Internet access!
More good news!
It looks like Sept. 11, 2003 will be known as "virus day" - it appears that another batch have been unleashed. Get all the info by

Another Microsoft issue:
Click here - you'll get the scoop on the latest Microsoft induced computer issue.
Perfect scenario:
Hackers like to hack - it's that simple. Why don't the hackers of the world unite and go after the Spammers? The hackers would become heros and the spammers would be out of business!
Might make a good short-story...
Finally - a GOOD use for sugar!
I've begun to detest sugar, it's done nothing but cause problems for the human race. My health has been wrecked a number of times because of sugar consumption. I gave the substance up about 3 months ago and have felt a radical improvement in my health.
I came across the is
article on the Web recently - maybe, sugar could be used industrially - maybe, that's where it should have been used all along?
